Support the Butler County Humane Society and the animals in our care!
The Butler County Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) designated private, non-profit organization independently governed by a local board of directors. The Board guides our vision, which is carried out by committed, knowledgeable, and skilled staff members. We do not receive regular funding from any national humane organizations. Every year, the Butler County Humane Society becomes home to thousands of animals who have been neglected, abandoned or abused. Our mission is to provide quality care for these pets while educating the public about issues affecting animals in the community.
We rely on the generosity and support of friends like you to continue our lifesaving programs and give each of these animals the love and kindness that they deserve on their journey home. We have been serving the Butler community for more than 100 years, converting to a no-kill shelter in 2000.
The strength and capacity of the Butler County Humane Society reflects the extent to which community members support our mission. Ultimately, friends like you determine the scope and reach of our services.
Where do we get our funding?

Where does the money go?
When an animal arrives at our facility, it is held for 48 hours before it is screened for disease, de-wormed, and administered vaccinations. The heath care administered by a veterinarian can range in costs upwards from about $60 per dog and $55 a cat.
All of our animals are implanted with a microchip and spayed/neutered, which can cost up to $100 an animal. These numbers alone represent the medical care for the upwards of 1,000 animals we help each year. Our goal is to ensure that each animal receives the medical treatment necessary to become available for adoption, but we also make certain they receive social and emotional help as well through focused staff care and socialization by our team of volunteers.
In addition there is still the daily care for the animals that must be factored in; things like food, treats, toys, litter, beds, and any other additional goods needed when taking care of multiple animals.
Regardless of the size, your gift matters. Because the Butler County Humane Society is a registered 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, all donations are tax-deductible. Your gift will allow us to treat each animal with the compassion and care they deserve.
Different Ways to Give
Donate a Kuranda Bed
Thousands of dogs in animal shelters across the country sleep on cold, wet, concrete floors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Give a gift that will bring comfort to a homeless pet (or two) for years! By donating a Kuranda bed to a homeless dog or cat you will provide a dry, soft, comfortable place to sleep during their time at the shelter. Donate a bed in your name, or send one as a gift in the name of a friend or family member. Medium, (not aluminum) regular beds fit us best!
Our PetFlow Wishlist
PetFlow is a wonderful company that not only serves as a simple way to donate needed goods to the shelter online, but also gives back by donating an additional 10% of the cost of all goods donated to the BCHS. To learn more about PetFlow or to view our wishlist and send some much needed and appreciated treats to the dogs and cats of the shelter, visit the link above!
Donate Your Car
Do you have a clunker automobile that you would like to get rid of and help the BCHS at the same time? Through CARS, Inc you can do just that! Just call 855-500-RIDE or visit the link above to learn more about donating your car; our shelter will receive a portion of the profits and all donations are tax deductible!
